The quarter-final fixtures for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) have been finalized following the conclusion of Group D matches on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. The tournament, co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, has seen intense competition among Africa’s top domestic league players, with eight teams now advancing to the knockout stage.

According to reports, Sudan and Senegal secured their places in the quarter-finals from Group D after a 0-0 draw in their final group match. Sudan topped the group with five points, edging out Senegal, also on five points, based on goal difference. Nigeria, despite a 2-0 victory over Congo, finished third in Group D with three points and were eliminated alongside Congo, who ended with two points.

The confirmed quarter-final matchups, set to take place on August 22 and 23, 2025, across Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Kampala, and Zanzibar, are as follows:

Kenya vs Madagascar

Group A winners Kenya, who topped their group with 10 points, face Group B runners-up Madagascar, who secured seven points.

Tanzania vs Morocco

Hosts Tanzania, leaders of Group B with 10 points, take on defending champions Morocco, who finished second in Group A with nine points.

Uganda vs Senegal

Group C toppers Uganda, with seven points, meet Group D runners-up Senegal in a highly anticipated clash.

Sudan vs Algeria

Group D leaders Sudan will battle Group C’s second-placed Algeria, who earned six points.

The quarter-finals mark the start of the knockout phase, with matches scheduled to be broadcast live on SuperSport, beIN Sports, and local channels such as KBC Channel 1 in Kenya, UBC TV in Uganda, and TBC 1 in Tanzania. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that the semi-finals will follow on August 26, with the third-place playoff and final set for August 29 and 30, respectively, at Nairobi’s Kasarani Stadium.

Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda have leveraged home advantage, with all three nations topping their respective groups. Kenya’s Harambee Stars, in their first-ever CHAN appearance, have been a standout, remaining unbeaten with a 1-0 win over DR Congo, a 1-1 draw against Angola, and a 1-0 victory over Morocco. Tanzania and Uganda also impressed, with Tanzania defeating Burkina Faso 2-0 in their opener and Uganda securing a 3-3 draw against South Africa to clinch Group C.

The elimination of nine teams, including heavyweights Nigeria, DR Congo, and South Africa, has added drama to the tournament, highlighting the competitiveness of the 19-team field, the largest in CHAN history. Fans are urged to purchase tickets via CAF’s official channels to witness the thrilling knockout rounds.

As the tournament progresses, all eyes will be on whether defending champions Senegal or two-time winners Morocco can reclaim the title, or if a new champion, possibly a host nation, will emerge on August 30.
