 AFCON 2023: Nsue, Lookman… Top scorers so far

The delayed 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) started on January 13, 2024 in Ivory Coast with 24 national teams pushing for the continental glory.

The competition is now in its final stages with just the final and third-place position games remaining to be played but the race for the Golden Boot award is still very much alive, as players are looking to earn the crown of the tournament’s top goal-scorer.



Equatorial Guinea’s Emilio Nsue is currently at the top of the chart, even though his country exited AFCON 2023 in the round 16 stage.

 Confederation of African Football(CAF) player of the year, Victor Osimhen, is not among the leading contenders for the golden boot, however his country man, Ademola Lookman, is a prominent candidate making a claim.
