WAEC 2025 results,
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the results of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates. According to the announcement made on Monday, August 4, 2025, candidates who participated in the examination can now access their results online via the council’s portal at www.waecdirect.org.
In a statement issued by the examination body, WAEC confirmed:
“WAEC is pleased to inform candidates who sat WASSCE for School Candidates, 2025 that the result has officially been released today, Monday, August 4, 2025.”
Candidates are required to input their examination number, select the exam year and type, and provide the PIN from their result checker card to view their results.
However, the 2025 results revealed a notable decline in candidate performance when compared to the previous year. Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos, the Head of the Nigeria National Office, Amos Dangut, disclosed that there was a 33.8 per cent drop in the number of candidates who obtained credit and above in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
“In this year’s WASSCE, the percentage of candidates who achieved credit and above in a minimum of five subjects, including English and Mathematics, stood at 72.12%. This represents a 33.8% decrease when compared to the results from 2024,” Dangut stated.
The examination, which spanned several weeks between April and June 2025, saw a total of 1,973,253 candidates from 23,554 approved secondary schools across Nigeria participating.
The release of the results marks the end of weeks of anxious anticipation for students, parents, and educators nationwide. As reactions continue to trail the performance statistics, education stakeholders are expected to analyse the factors responsible for the decline and recommend strategies to improve learning outcomes in subsequent years.
