Miguel Ángel López Días, popularly known as Rey Mysterio Sr, has passed away at the age of 66 on December 20, 2024.
Miguel Dias was born on January 8, 1958, in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. He began his athletic journey in boxing before transitioning to professional wrestling in 1976.

The legendary wrestler is an uncle to WWE in-ring master Rey Mysterio.
His international prominence rose with his appearance at WCW’s Starrcade in 1990 alongside Konnan.
He helped in popularising Lucha Libre and engaged in various promotions, including Pro Wrestling Revolution, Tijuana Wrestling, and Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide throughout his career.
Misterio Sr. was a revered trainer. Beyond his in-ring accomplishments, he trained and mentored Konnan, Psicosis, and his nephew Rey Mysterio.
He is a legendary luchador who played a pivotal role in shaping modern professional wrestling.
He made a profound contribution to the wrestling world that he was recognised with an induction into the Tijuana Sports Hall of Fame in 2006.
The cause of his news is not yet revealed, but his death was announced on Facebook by his son, El Hijo de Rey Misterio (Miguel Aarón López Hernández).
The report also gathered that the family had earlier lost a member, Roberto Gutierrez.
