World Number One Aryna Sabalenka Advances to Round Three of Wimbledon

Aryna Sabalenka, the world No. 1, has advanced to the third round of Wimbledon with a gritty straight-set 7–6(4), 6–4 victory over Marie Bouzkova on Centre Court. Despite early tension, dropping serve in the opening set and missing break points, Sabalenka seized the tiebreaker emphatically, firing powerful winners and serving with authority, ultimately totaling an impressive 40 winners to just 18 unforced errors.

Earlier this tournament, she opened with a confident win over Carson Branstine in 73 minutes under record heat, showcasing composure and consistency. The victory over Bouzkova, her straight-set defense of form amid pressure, further cements her status as the tournament favorite, especially with major seeds like Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula, Zheng Qinwen, and Paula Badosa already ousted in early rounds.

Known for her powerful game, Sabalenka has heavily relied on practicing with top male players including Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner to sharpen her explosiveness. Her strategy is paying off: with three Grand Slam titles (Australian Open, US Open, and Madrid Open) and a string of deep runs, she’s never been more driven to capture her first Wimbledon crown.

As she awaits her next opponent, either Emma Raducanu or Marketa Vondrousova, Sabalenka is clearly embracing momentum and mature focus. Amidst recent tournament turbulence, including her contentious French Open showdown with Coco Gauff, the top seed has publicly moved past drama and chosen to project calm determination at the All England Club.

Expectations are soaring: if she continues to balance power with poise, Aryna Sabalenka could very well claim her maiden Wimbledon title and reinforce her leading place in women’s tennis.
