Who’s Rudy Giuliani? Trump’s ally injured, hospitalised in New Hampshire car crash

Rudy Giuliani Injured in New Hampshire Car Accident, Recovering from Fractured Vertebra.

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is recovering after being seriously injured in a car accident in New Hampshire over the weekend, according to his security team and state police officials.

The collision happened on Saturday evening when Giuliani’s vehicle was struck from behind at what authorities described as a “high speed.” Michael Ragusa, Giuliani’s head of security, confirmed in a statement that the 80-year-old former mayor was rushed to a nearby trauma center. Doctors diagnosed him with a fractured thoracic vertebra, cuts, bruises, and additional injuries to his left arm and lower leg.

He wrote on X:

“@RudyGiuliani was in a car accident in NH on Aug 30 after assisting a domestic violence victim. He sustained injuries but is in good spirits and recovering tremendously. Thank you for the prayers & support. official statement below.”
He also released an official statement on the accident:

On the evening of August 30, 2025, in New Hampshire, Mayor Giuliani was involved in a motor vehicle accident. Prior to the incident, he was flagged down by a woman who was the victim of a domestic violence incident. Mayor Giuliani immediately rendered assistance and contacted 911. He remained on scene until responding officers arrived to ensure her safety.

Following this, while traveling on the highway, Mayor Giuliani’s vehicle was struck from behind at high speed. He was transported to a nearby trauma center, where he was diagnosed with a fractured thoracic vertebrae, multiple lacerations and contusions, as well as injuries to his left arm and lower leg.

His business partner and medical provider were promptly contacted and arrived at the hospital to oversee his care.

At this time, no further updates are available.

This is the only statement authorized by Mayor Giuliani.

Signed,
Michael Ragusa
Head of Mayor Giuliani’s Security

Giuliani Rendered Aid Before Accident

In a striking detail, Ragusa revealed that just moments before the crash, Giuliani stopped to help a woman who flagged him down after being assaulted in a domestic violence incident. He contacted 911 and stayed with her until officers arrived on the scene. Not long afterward, Giuliani’s vehicle was hit, leaving him and two others with injuries described by the New Hampshire State Police as “non-life threatening.” All three were transported by ambulance to local hospitals.

Recovery and Public Response

Despite the severity of his injuries, Giuliani’s team reported that he is “fully alert and in great spirits.” Ragusa dismissed any speculation that the crash was intentional, calling it a case of “wrong place, wrong time.”

Giuliani’s son, Andrew Giuliani, addressed the incident on social media, thanking supporters for their prayers. “As a son, I can tell you I’m honored to have a Dad that I can call the toughest SOB I’ve ever seen!” he wrote.

A Complicated Chapter for “America’s Mayor”

Known as “America’s Mayor” for his leadership in New York City during the September 11 attacks, Giuliani has faced mounting legal and financial troubles in recent years. He has pleaded not guilty to criminal charges in Georgia and Arizona connected to election interference cases. In December, he was ordered to pay $148 million in damages to former Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss after spreading false claims about them.

Although Giuliani later reached a settlement that allowed him to keep his home and most valuable possessions, his net worth—estimated at $10 million—makes it unlikely that Freeman and Moss will collect the full judgment.

Trump’s Continued Support

Giuliani remains a close ally of former President Donald Trump, who recently praised him as “the greatest mayor in the history of New York.” Trump has also stood by Giuliani during his legal battles and recently announced that Andrew Giuliani would serve as Executive Director of the White House Task Force for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. In June, Trump appointed Giuliani to an advisory council within the Department of Homeland Security.

As he recovers from his injuries, Giuliani continues to draw both scrutiny and loyalty—reflecting his unique and controversial role in American politics.
