Lagos police arrest notorious crime suspect, Olori Eso.
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Wasiu Akinwande, popularly known as “Olori Eso,” a notorious gang leader and suspected hired assassin who had long terrorized residents of Mushin and its environs.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, the 44-year-old suspect was apprehended by the Command’s Tactical Squad after weeks of tracking.
He was eventually arrested at a hideout in Agbado, Ogun State, on Friday, June 21, 2025.
Akinwande, who was declared wanted by the Lagos State Police Command in connection with multiple cult-related killings and violent crimes, is believed to have led a deadly gang involved in armed robbery, murder, and other criminal activities.
Investigations revealed that the suspect had been on the police radar for several years, with evidence linking him to numerous criminal cases that have left communities in fear.
Four families of murder victims have reportedly identified Akinwande as responsible for the killings of their loved ones.
His arrest is expected to bring some relief and hope of justice to the affected families. Police Commissioner Owohunwa Idowu has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case and commence a thorough investigation into the suspect’s criminal network.
Authorities are currently working to locate his accomplices and recover more arms and ammunition allegedly stockpiled by the gang.
