SASSA grants payment date
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed the official payment dates for September 2025. Millions of South Africans will begin receiving their social grants during the first week of the month.

- Older Persons’ Grant — Tuesday, 2 September
- Disability Grant — Wednesday, 3 September
- Children’s Grants (Child Support, Foster Care, Care Dependency) — Thursday, 4 September

- Older Persons’ Grant (60–74 years): R2,315
- Older Persons’ Grant (75+ years): R2,335
- Disability Grant: R2,315
- War Veterans’ Grant: R2,315
- Care Dependency Grant: R2,315
- Foster Care Grant: R1,250
- Child Support Grant: R560
- Social Relief of Distress (SRD) Grant: R370
SASSA has reminded beneficiaries to avoid rushing to collection points on the first payment day to reduce overcrowding and delays.
Fraud alert: unauthorised deductions
The agency has raised concern over a growing number of unauthorised deductions from grant payments. Beneficiaries are urged to check their balances regularly and act immediately if suspicious activity is detected. No deductions are allowed without informed consent.
How to dispute deductions
- In person: Visit your nearest SASSA office to lodge a complaint.
- By SMS: Send your ID number and the name of the financial service provider to 34548 to report and contest irregular deductions.
