Ramsey is no stranger to law enforcement. Court documents reveal he was arrested in Bartow County in 2024 on a misdemeanor battery charge before being released on bond just two days later.
McCaysville Police Chief Michael Earley also confirmed that Ramsey has had previous run-ins with local officers, raising fears about a troubling pattern of violent behavior.

The Law Enforcement Response
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is spearheading the manhunt with support from the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office and multiple state and federal partners. Officials describe the ongoing search as their top priority, underscoring the seriousness of the threat Ramsey poses.
The Blue Alert system—used when a law enforcement officer is seriously injured or killed in the line of duty—was activated immediately to mobilize public awareness across state lines. The alert shares critical details, similar to Amber and Silver Alerts, helping communities play a direct role in locating dangerous suspects.
The Human Cost: Captain Brantley Worley
The shooting has left McCaysville shaken, not only because of the violence itself but because of who it targeted. Captain Brantley Worley has been with the department for years, earning respect as both a dedicated officer and an ordained minister. Just promoted in July, he is known for his sense of duty and unwavering commitment to the community.
Chief Earley described him as “a faithful public servant whose work reflects a deep sense of duty.”
A Community on Edge
Residents across North Georgia have been urged to remain alert and avoid taking risks. Anyone with information about Ramsey’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact authorities by calling 911, reaching out to the GBI Tip Line at 1-800-597-TIPS (8477), submitting tips online at gbi.georgia.gov/submit-tips-online, or using the “See Something, Send Something” mobile app.
Race Against Time
As the search drags into its second day, the urgency grows. More than a dozen agencies are now coordinating resources, scouring McCaysville and beyond for any sign of the fugitive.
Chief Earley put it simply:
“Our number one goal is public safety. We will not rest until Timothy Ramsey is in custody.”
For now, the Blue Alert remains active, and the community holds its breath—knowing that the manhunt for Timothy Craig Ramsey is far from over.
