During her time at Syracuse University (2017–2021), Mangakahia became the program’s all-time assists leader. She averaged over 15 points and 8 assists per game during her peak seasons and was twice named to the All-ACC First Team.

Her leadership and style of play left a lasting mark on Syracuse basketball, and she is remembered as one of the greatest to ever wear the Orange jersey.
