Shehu Sani: Obidients more peaceful than Buhari supporters in 2011
Shehu Sani, the former senator, says the actions of President Muhammadu Buhari’s supporters after the 2011 presidential election are worse than what ‘Obidients’ are presently exhibiting.
Obidients, supporters of Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), have been criticised by several people for being intolerant of opposing views.
In a Twitter post, the former lawmaker argued the criticisms of Obidients are unfair when compared to the activities of Buhari’s supporters in 2011.
Buhari’s supporters, protesting the victory of President Goodluck Jonathan, in 2011 allegedly caused unrest in the north that led to the loss of several lives.
Comparing the experience to that of Obidients, Sani said supporters of the LP presidential candidate are more peaceful.
“No patriot should trigger or encourage anarchy, but we shouldn’t also ‘shorten our memories’; what Peter’s supporters are doing in 2023 is more peaceful than what Buhari’s supporters did in 2011,” he said.
