SASSA temporarily shuts its offices in Dr Kenneth Kaunda and Matlosana, gives key reason

SASSA shuts Dr Kenneth Kaunda and Matlosana offices due to water shortage, urges use of online and phone services

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced the temporary closure of its Dr Kenneth Kaunda District and Matlosana Local Office due to a severe water shortage affecting the area. Both offices operate from the same building and have suspended all in-person services until the water supply is restored.

According to SASSA, the water crisis has made it impossible to maintain normal operations, prompting the agency to suspend physical services in the interest of health, safety, and operational efficiency. Beneficiaries who rely on these offices have been urged to use alternative service channels or delay their visits until the offices reopen.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to our beneficiaries and stakeholders,” SASSA said in a statement. “We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time.”

SASSA confirmed that updates on the reopening of the affected offices will be provided as soon as the water supply is fully restored. The agency continues to encourage grant beneficiaries to make use of its self-service options where possible.

The closure affects both new applicants and existing beneficiaries seeking assistance or information related to their social grants.
