SASSA Grants: Payment dates for October 2025 revealed
SASSA grants payment date
The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has released the confirmed payment schedule for October 2025. Millions of beneficiaries across the country will begin receiving their grants in the first and second weeks of the month.
October 2025 Sassa Payment Dates
- Older Persons Grant – Thursday, 2 October 2025
- Disability Grant – Friday, 3 October 2025
- Children’s Grants – Monday, 6 October 2025
Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant payments will also roll out during the first week of October, but beneficiaries should note that these are processed in batches rather than on a single date.

- Old Age Grant (60–74 years) / Disability Grant – R2 315
- Old Age Grant (75+ years) – R2 335
- War Veterans Grant – R2 315
- Care Dependency Grant – R2 315
- Foster Child Grant – R1 250
- Child Support Grant – R560
- Child Support Grant Top-Up – R250 (in addition to CSG)
- SRD Grant – R370
Fraud Prevention and Biometric Enrolment
Since 1 September 2025, all new grant applicants must undergo biometric verification, including fingerprints or facial scans. Sassa says this system helps curb fraud and strengthen payment security. So far, more than 42,000 beneficiaries have enrolled at over 430 offices nationwide.
Temporary Closure of Johannesburg Office
Sassa has announced the temporary closure of its Johannesburg Local Office after the suspension of eight officials linked to fraud. Beneficiaries in the area can still access services at:
- Westbury Clinic
- South Hills Community Hall
- Cosmo City Multipurpose Centre
Sassa CEO Themba Matlou emphasised that the closure is part of broader anti-corruption measures and that the agency is committed to restoring full services as soon as possible.
