SAPS e-recruitment 2025 deadline nears, see when applications will close

SAPS is hiring—but meeting the criteria is only half the battle. Here’s what to expect.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has launched its 2025/2026 recruitment drive, sparking a wave of interest among young South Africans eager to join the force. The opportunity promises structure, employment, and purpose—but not everyone will make the cut.

Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old, have a valid Matric certificate, and be free of any criminal record or pending case. But beyond these basics lies a more demanding road: a multi-layered selection process designed to filter in only the most suitable candidates.

SAPS is clear about what it’s looking for—disciplined, intelligent, energetic individuals who are both physically and mentally fit. To achieve this, applicants are required to undergo a series of tough assessments, including:

  • Psychometric evaluations to test reasoning and decision-making

  • Integrity screening to assess moral judgement

  • Physical fitness tests

  • Medical evaluations

  • Vetting and fingerprint checks

Those who make it through this rigorous process will then begin a nine-month training programme at official SAPS academies across the country. During this period, trainees will receive a monthly stipend of R4,500, allowing them to focus fully on developing the skills required to serve in the police force.

Don’t Miss the Deadline

While many are still considering whether to apply, time is limited. The SAPS recruitment portal officially opened on 30 June 2025, and online applications will close on 18 July 2025. No late entries will be accepted, and only applications submitted through the e-recruitment system will be considered.

In a statement, SAPS said: “The nationwide recruitment drive begins today, 30 June 2025, with online applications closing on 18 July 2025. It targets young men and women aged 18 to 35 to join as police trainees for the 2025/2026 financial year.”

Aspiring candidates are urged to apply early, read all requirements carefully, and prepare for a competitive selection process that aims to shape a stronger, smarter SAPS.
