Former Spandau Ballet singer Ross Davidson, also known by his stage name Ross Wild, has been found guilty of rape and multiple sexual offences following a high-profile trial at Wood Green Crown Court in London.
The 37-year-old musician, who briefly fronted the iconic 1980s band in 2018 and later starred in the West End musical We Will Rock You, was convicted after jurors deliberated for more than 11 hours, delivering unanimous guilty verdicts on all charges.
Details of the Charges and Convictions
Davidson was convicted of raping a woman in London in March 2015, as well as attempted rape and sexual assault of another woman in Thailand in December 2019. He had pleaded not guilty to all charges but was found guilty following detailed testimony from both complainants.
The court also heard that Davidson had previously pleaded guilty to voyeurism, admitting that he secretly filmed a woman while she slept in a hotel room in Thailand. The footage was later discovered on his mobile phone by police investigators.
Jurors were told the video showed the woman unresponsive and unaware of being filmed. She later told the court she had no knowledge the footage existed until contacted by detectives.

Court Heard Evidence of a ‘Darker Side’
Prosecutor Richard Hearnden told the jury that Davidson had cultivated an image as a “sex symbol” due to his music and theatre career, but said the evidence revealed a much darker pattern of behaviour.
Both victims had met Davidson through dating apps, including Tinder. The London-based complainant told the court she had gone to sleep at Davidson’s Finchley home, only to wake up to find herself being assaulted. She described feeling “helpless” and “scared to react.”
Davidson claimed all sexual encounters were consensual and described himself as “sex positive”, arguing that the term meant openness and communication. The jury rejected this defence.
Police Describe Davidson as a ‘Prolific Offender’
Following the verdict, Detective Constable Kamila Kedadrova of the Metropolitan Police said Davidson was a “prolific offender” who carried out “cowardly and opportunistic assaults” against women who trusted him.
Police confirmed the Thailand complainant was traced only after officers discovered incriminating video evidence during a separate investigation.
Previous Convictions and Sentencing
The court was told that Davidson had previously been convicted at an earlier trial of rape, sexual assault and voyeurism involving another complainant. His latest convictions add to an already serious criminal record.
Davidson has now been remanded into custody and is due to be sentenced at a later date. The judge is expected to consider both the pattern of offending and the severity of the crimes when determining the sentence.
Fall from the Spotlight
Davidson’s conviction marks a dramatic fall from grace for the Aberdeen-born performer, who once toured internationally and appeared on major West End stages. His time with Spandau Ballet in 2018 brought renewed public attention before his criminal conduct came to light.
Legal experts say the case highlights how celebrity status does not shield offenders from accountability under UK law.
