Reno shooting: Two dead, several injured at Grand Sierra Resort

A tragic shooting at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno early Monday morning has left two people dead and at least three others injured. Authorities say the suspect is in custody following a swift police response that included an officer-involved shooting.
Deadly Attack Unfolds in Valet Area
According to reports from the Reno Police Department, the violence began around 7:25 a.m. in the valet area of the Grand Sierra Resort. Officers responded within minutes and confronted the suspect. During the arrest, shots were fired in what authorities described as an officer-involved shooting.
Casualties and Injuries Confirmed
Two individuals died at the scene, while at least three others were injured and transported to Renown Regional Medical Center. Some of the victims remain in critical condition. The names of the victims and suspect have not been released.
Suspect in Custody, Motive Under Investigation
The suspect, who was also hospitalized, is now in custody. Investigators have not confirmed any motive and are reviewing surveillance footage while interviewing witnesses at the scene. There is currently no ongoing threat to the public.
Public Urged to Avoid Area
Law enforcement, including Sparks Police Department, helped secure the area. Authorities urged the public to avoid the resort vicinity during the investigation. Streets around the location were temporarily closed but have since reopened.
Community Leaders Respond
City Council member Devon Reese called the shooting “unthinkable,” while Mayor Hillary Schieve expressed gratitude for first responders and extended sympathies to the victims’ families. “Our hearts are broken,” she said in a statement.
