PSG, Real Madrid or Bayern? AI (ChatGPT) predicts who will win FIFA Club World Cup 2025

Before the commencement of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, ActionNetwork.com decided to use ChatGPT to find out how AI would predict the outcome of the tournament.

At first, ChatGPT was “fed” key information regarding this year’s Club World Cup participating teams, which gave AI enough information to make reasonable predictions for the outcome of all the group stage and the knockout stage all the way to the final match. In total, ChatGPT was fed 1,000+ data points across different variables to make its predictions.

• According to AI, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are predicted to make it to the semifinals.

• Subsequently, Paris Saint-Germain is predicted to win over Bayern Munich in the final and become the champion of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

ActionNetwork.com spokesperson comments: “By using advanced AI analysis, the outcome of the 2025 Club World Cup bracket was predicted based on key data, including recent performance, history at the Club World Cup, coach profiles and much more. THE PROCESS

Specifically, for each team, ChatGPT was given:

• Recent Performance Stats: Latest matches results (W–D–L), goals scored/conceded, league standing, points and goal difference.

• Continental Performance: Best finish in the last 3 continental tournaments (e.g., Copa Libertadores, UCL…).

• Club World Cup Experience: Total appearances, years, best result, latest result, and full match record.

• Squad Quality & Depth: Market value, number of international players, and average age.

  
  
  

• Key Players Of The Season: Top scorers and assist providers in the current season.

• Coach Profile: Years in charge and major career achievements.

• Region the club represents (e.g., Europe, South America…).

• Fixture Congestion & Travel: Match load and travel near the tournament.

  
  
  

• Group Stage Draw: Group assignment in the FCWC. (e.g., Group A, Group B…)

• Team Rating: Team’s rating from SofaScore – data-driven performance rating averaged over recent matches.

After being fed all the data, ChatGPT predicted the outcome of the group stages, ranking teams most likely to progress to the knockout stage. Subsequently, the bracket for the 2025 Club World Cup was filled out based on ChatGPT’s predictions.

At first, ChatGPT predicted the winners of the Round of 16, then Quarterfinals, Semifinals and at last, the overall winner of the tournament.

Based on the answers given by AI, the entire bracket was filled in.

Having said that, ChatGPT provided us with detailed justifications for its choices, giving us 72 pages and 12,000 words worth of matchup-by-matchup explanations.

“DARK HORSES” OF THE TOURNAMENT ACCORDING TO AI

Additionally, ChatGPT was asked to utilize the stats that it was provided and name top 5 teams that it considers to be the “dark horses” of the tournament which could surprise and pull off a win.

• Inter Milan was named as the most likely “dark horse” to win, reasoning its “dark horse” status to recently beating Bayern Munich in the Champions League and making it all the way to the final alongside its strong tactical skills.

• The remaining top 5 “dark horses” of the tournament (according to ChatGPT) are: Chelsea FC, Palmeiras, Benfica and Atlético Madrid, respectively.
