Police rescue kidnapped businessman in Gombe
The Gombe State Police Command has announced the successful rescue of a businessman who was kidnapped during an attack on Tingeri village in the Birin Fulani area of Nafada Local Government Area.
The development was disclosed on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, in a press statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi.
According to the statement, the incident occurred in the early hours of the day when unidentified assailants armed with sticks, cutlasses, and knives stormed the cattle range of Alhaji Adamu Bappah, 48, a resident of Tingeri village via Birin Fulani.
The attackers reportedly assaulted Bappah and his son before abducting him to an unknown destination. His son sustained injuries during the attack and was immediately rushed to a hospital for medical treatment.
Abdullahi explained that a swift rescue operation was launched the same day through a collaborative effort involving police operatives, local hunters, and members of the vigilante group.
“The victim was safely rescued at the Dawo Bush area of Kwani Local Government Area and immediately taken to the hospital for medical examination before being reunited with his family,” he said.
The police spokesperson further revealed that efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the suspects responsible for the crime.
The command reassured residents of its unwavering commitment to combating criminal activities and ensuring the safety and security of all communities across Gombe State.
