“There was also a day my wife woke up to prepare for church service when her telephone rang and the caller said he heard that I passed away that morning,” he added.

Just last year, another rumour allegedly surfaced from Ghana claiming the veteran actor had already been buried.

Despite the emotional toll these hoaxes may cause, Edochie appears to maintain a philosophical outlook on life and death. Drawing inspiration from Nigeria’s late statesman Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, he shared a lesson that has stayed with him for decades.

“There was something late Nnamdi Azikwe taught me when I interviewed him. He said that anybody who’s wishing you death will die before you,” he said.

The legendary actor also highlighted the longevity in his family, expressing confidence in his health and vitality.

“On March 7, I will be 79. My father died at 96, so we have longevity in my family.”
