The sparks may be flying on-screen, but are Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson heating things up off-screen too?
During a lively appearance on the TODAY show, the stars of the upcoming reboot The Naked Gun were pressed by host Craig Melvin about whether their on-screen chemistry has spilled over into real life.
“What’s the deal here?” Melvin asked playfully. “You’re both single right now. There’s clearly chemistry on display throughout this film. Are you two an item?”
Neeson reacted with mock disbelief, exclaiming, “Craig!” while Anderson responded with a laugh, “What? I don’t understand the question.”
The Taken actor went on to clarify, “I had never met Pamela before. We met on set. And we discovered we had a lovely, budding chemistry — as two actors.”
Anderson echoed the sentiment with a simple “Yeah,” before Neeson elaborated further: “It’s like, ‘Oh, this is nice. Let’s not mold this. Let’s just let it breathe.’ And that’s what we did.”
Melvin didn’t let the subject go easily, quipping, “We’re watching the beginning of the breathing of a budding relationship,” and later adding, “America’s here for it. We’re here for whatever this turns into.”
As the interview wrapped, Melvin jokingly invited the pair to return to the show “when it’s official.”
Anderson, no stranger to public romance, has been married to Tommy Lee, Kid Rock, Rick Salomon, and Dan Hayhurst — whom she separated from in 2022, according to E! News. Neeson, meanwhile, was married to actress Natasha Richardson until her tragic death in a skiing accident in 2009.
In the upcoming Naked Gun reboot, Neeson steps into the role of Frank Drebin Jr., the son of the late Leslie Nielsen’s iconic detective character. Anderson plays Beth Davenport, his love interest. The comedy is set to hit theaters on August 1.
While the stars insist their connection is purely professional, their easy banter and visible chemistry on TODAY have certainly given fans reason to root for a romance — whether scripted or real.
