President Bola Tinubu has extended his condolences to the family of Mubasheer Olabode Agusto, ex-special adviser budget matters to President Olusegun Obasanjo during his second term in office.

Agusto passed on at 68.



This condolence was contained in a statement by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on the 19th of October.

The president especially commended commitment to the economic development of Nigeria despite facing health challenges.

He wrote “Even in the face of formidable health challenges, Bode continued to generously share his time and wealth of knowledge on economics and business strategy. He was consistently eager to contribute to the growth of the Nigerian economy. His impact will resonate through generations, and I pray that God grants his soul eternal rest,”



Here is how we remember a man of excellence

Bode Agusto was a brilliant chartered accountant with over 30 years of experience who served brilliantly both in the public and private sectors.

Significantly, Agusto served in President Olusegun Obasanjo’s cabinet between 2003 and 2007.



In 2003, he was conferred with the title of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic, a national honour for his contribution to the governance of the federation.

He is a former Assistant Vice President of Citibank Nigeria; and a Partner in PriceWaterHouseCoopers (PwC);

The adviser was a Non-Executive Director of the National Pension Commission (PenCom) and the Shell Nigeria Pension Fund

He was also a member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Agusto graduated from the University of Lagos with a degree in Accounting and an executive certificate in Strategy and innovation from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

He worked as an independent researcher and a consultant before his demise.

He founded Agusto & Co. Limited, Nigeria’s first credit rating agency.
