Nigeria And The Triumph Of Evil

Nigeria And The Triumph Of Evil

By Uzoh Chikwado

Nigeria and the things that happen in it have a way of making ‘ungodly’ men look godly; unholy men, holy; and of course she encourages injustice.

How on earth do we justify the charade that took place in Osun State last week in the name of elections? For how long do we keep taking a step forward and five backwards?

In Ekiti, we were told that Fayose’s inability to pay salaries was behind his ‘not-being-able’ to deliver his anointed successor. Ekiti people were hailed as ‘wise and not-loving suffering’.

Fast forward to the ‘State of Osun’ as Ogbeni calls it. In all honesty, the ‘State of Osun’ is nothing to write home about. Rauf Aregbesola doesn’t pay salaries neither has he been able to articulate  any meaningful governance policy. All he is good at is playing stooge to the godfather of Lagos state. To make matters worse, he seems more interested in what’s happening in Lagos than in his State. In saner climes, such man should not be in the corridors of power not to talk being at the helms. But, this is Nigeria!

We’ve found a way of advancing illogical logics. Oyetola probably won because Ogbeni does not pay salaries. This shows that Osun workers are in love with poverty! Has logic ever been this illogical?

In 2019, we would see an enhancement in the propagation of illogical logic as Mr. Buhari would return to office. But even at that I ask, what manner of humans are we all? Wouldn’t a prosperous Nigeria that is manned by capable and able-bodied Nigerians be better for us and our next generations?

As it stands, we are simply the sort of people that cross a bridge and break it afterwards. And world over, progress has never been achieved in this way.
