In a development few thought possible, boxing icons Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather have officially agreed to an exhibition fight set for spring 2026, according to an announcement from CSI Sports. While the exact date and venue are yet to be revealed, anticipation is already building for what promises to be one of the most talked-about events in modern boxing history.
Tyson, who recently returned to the ring in November 2024 for a bout against Jake Paul at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, expressed his surprise at Mayweather’s willingness to take on the challenge. “I still can’t believe Floyd really wants to do this,” Tyson said. “It’s going to be detrimental to his health, but he signed for it—and it’s happening.”
Both men come into the exhibition with legendary resumes. Tyson, now 59, boasts a career record of 50-7, with an astonishing 44 wins by knockout. Known as the “Baddest Man on the Planet,” Tyson’s power and ferocity made him one of the most feared heavyweights in history.
Mayweather, who will be 49 by the time of the fight, has never tasted defeat in the professional ring. His immaculate 50-0 record includes 27 knockouts, and his career has been defined by technical brilliance, unmatched defense, and big-money spectacles. Even after retiring in 2015 following his victory over Andre Berto, Mayweather has remained active in the exhibition circuit, including a 2024 appearance.
One of Mayweather’s most famous bouts—the blockbuster against Manny Pacquiao in 2015—set records with 4.4 million pay-per-view buys and a $72 million live gate, showing the kind of commercial firepower he still brings to the sport.
“For three decades, nobody has been able to tarnish my legacy,” Mayweather said in the CSI Sports release. “If I’m doing something, it’s going to be massive. This is for the fans, and it will be legendary.”
While the location for Mayweather vs Tyson has not yet been confirmed, speculation is rife that it could land in a massive arena similar to AT&T Stadium, which has hosted Tyson before and can hold more than 80,000 spectators.
By the time the two legends meet, Tyson will have turned 60, while Mayweather will be approaching 49. The age gap and contrasting styles only add to the intrigue surrounding a fight that most fans never imagined they would witness.
