Merry Christmas : Elumelu distributes rice, no stampede
In commemoration of Christmas and in the spirit of giving back to one’s community, the chairman of United Bank for Africa (UBA), Tony Elumelu, has distributed 1800 bags of rice to his people, Onicha-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta state.

Elumelu was ably represented by the UBA head of media external relations, Nasir Ramon, and his assistant, Mr. Omede Odikina.
In distributing the premium quality CSS 25 kg parboiled rice, Mr. Nasir described Tony Elumelu as a true son of the soil who is steadfastly committed to empowering individuals and changing lives.
He stated, “We gather to celebrate the spirit of Christmas—a season of love, kindness, and generosity. This event is a testament to my deep commitment to my roots, my people, and my vision for a better and brighter future for all, and as we receive these gifts today, let us also commit to being a blessing to others in whatever way we can.”
He also went further to highlight the indelible marks Tony Elumelu has made both in the nation and globally. Through the Tony Elumelu Foundation, a lot of lives have been impacted, and this is a reflection of the humanitarian heart Elumelu has.
“This initiative reflects the values Elumelu embodies—hard work, generosity, and the unshakeable belief that when we lift others, we rise together.”
The distribution of rice was done in the Elumelu compound without any form of riot or stampede.
The recipients of his gesture expressed their gratitude to Elumelu and prayed that God Almighty will continue to bless him. Among these are Ede of Onicha Uku, Chief Steve Osakwe of the traditional council, Provost College of Nursing, Mrs. Ngozi Olise, and others.
Also, His Royal Highness, Raphael Okonkwo Agbamueche 11, Obi of Onicha-Uku, appreciated Elumelu and hailed him as “a son of the soil, for his steadfastness in empowering communities and changing people’s lives right here in his hometown.”
This is a testament that the great, renowned philanthropist, Tony Elumelu, is attuned with his people as he jokingly identified himself as a “village boy”.
