In a moment that rocked the metal world, Megadeth has officially announced that their upcoming seventeenth studio album, slated for release in 2026, will be their final record, accompanied by a global farewell tour. Frontman Dave Mustaine delivered an emotional farewell to fans, affirming the band’s desire to bow out “on top.” This marks the end of more than 40 years of thrash metal dominance.

Megadeth will cap off their storied discography with one final studio album, due early next year. Mustaine shared the announcement with his “Cyber Army” fanbase via a message carried by their mascot, Vic Rattlehead, who declared that the “end demands my words.” The album will be released under Mustaine’s Tradecraft imprint, in partnership with Frontiers Label Group’s BLKIIBLK label. Fans can expect a first single and pre-orders to launch this fall.

In tandem with the final album, Megadeth plans a global farewell tour set to commence in 2026. Mustaine has invited fans to join the band in celebration, urging, “Don’t be mad, don’t be sad, be happy for us all.” While full dates have yet to be revealed, early teasers hint at a spectacular send-off.
