Marvel Studios has officially dropped the trailer for Marvel Zombies, its first-ever TV-MA animated series set to premiere on September 24, 2025, exclusively on Disney+. The chilling preview asks, “Who will save us from our heroes?” before unleashing a world where the Avengers and other beloved heroes fall victim to a zombie plague.

Unlike past animated Marvel projects, this four-episode limited series leans heavily into horror and mature storytelling, complete with bloody battles, chaotic landscapes, and desperate survival stakes. Timed to Halloween, the release marks Marvel’s boldest leap into adult animation.

MCU Stars Returning to Voice Their Heroes

The trailer confirmed a stacked lineup of MCU veterans reprising their roles. Elizabeth Olsen returns as Scarlet Witch/Wanda Maximoff, alongside Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, and David Harbour as Red Guardian. Also featured are Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Awkwafina as Katy, and Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop.

Other returning voices include Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent), Randall Park (Jimmy Woo), Iman Vellani (Ms. Marvel), and Dominique Thorne (Ironheart). The trailer also teases Hudson Thames reprising Spider-Man, ensuring younger heroes play a central role in the apocalyptic chaos.

The mix of veteran Avengers, street-level heroes, and new recruits creates a survival dynamic that is unlike anything Marvel has attempted in animation.

Blade Joins the Fight, But With a Twist

One of the most talked-about reveals from the trailer is the debut of Blade in animated form. However, the character is voiced not by Mahershala Ali, who remains attached to the delayed live-action film, but by actor Todd Williams.

Blade’s arrival adds a supernatural element perfectly suited to the zombie storyline. His vampire-hunting skills and dark persona align seamlessly with the bloody tone of the series, expanding Marvel’s horror presence within the MCU.

Behind the Scenes: Visionaries Bringing It to Life

The series is directed by Bryan Andrews, known for What If…?, with Zeb Wells serving as writer and co-creator. Both Andrews and Wells also hold executive producer credits, joined by Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, and Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt.

According to Andrews, fans can expect “more hardcore” and “pretty wild” zombie sequences compared to what was teased in What If…?. Producer Danielle Costa and Carrie Wassenaar are ensuring the production blends Marvel spectacle with animated horror grit.

By leaning on this creative team, Marvel Zombies aims to expand Marvel’s animated division into darker territory, while maintaining the studio’s signature storytelling polish.

What the Story Will Explore

Inspired by the What If…? Season 1 episode where Earth’s Mightiest Heroes were infected by a zombie virus, this new series takes the concept further. After the Avengers are overtaken, a ragtag group of survivors bands together to uncover a possible cure.

The survivors must traverse a dystopian wasteland, facing super-powered undead versions of their friends and enemies. With Scarlet Witch’s destructive abilities, Ant-Man’s shrinking tricks, and even cosmic-level threats turned monstrous, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

This deeper dive into Marvel horror not only tests characters’ survival skills but also raises existential questions: how do you fight the very heroes who once saved the world?

With its TV-MA rating, Halloween-timed release, and star-studded cast, Marvel Zombies is set to push boundaries as Marvel’s boldest animated experiment yet. By blending horror, survival, and MCU lore, it promises to be a unique addition to the franchise that fans won’t want to miss.
