According to PUNCH online, Ajayi was apprehended on Sunday by churchgoers in Orozo.
A member of the church has noticed a suspicious movement from Ajayi during the church service. The member whose name was revealed by PUNCH as bro Victor alerted another brother in the church. The duo secretly saw Ajayi throw a polybag in a river. They approached him and questioned what he threw in the river, but Ajayi didn’t give them answers to their question. They left him and went back to church while Ajayi hung around the area.
Perhaps to later retrieve the bag and continue with his ritualistic acts. But luck ran out for him when some motorcyclist traced his identity to the church. On clear description, Ajayi matched the features as one of the cyclists explained Ajayi was with a polybag that dripped blood, and when he questioned him, he angrily asked to alight at the church.
With the whole story and Ajayi’s suspicious moves, they surrounded him, and when the bag was retrieved, they found a human head. By then, a lot of people had gathered as an angry mob descended upon Ajayi with a heavy beating till the police arrived and rescued him.
On further interview with the police, Ajayi revealed that the beheaded female corps member was his girlfriend of one year. He earlier claimed that he got into a fight with her when he found out she was cheating on him with another man. But later, Ajayi claimed he was asked to bring her head by someone. When the police searched Ajayi’s residence, they discovered the rest of the body parts of the murdered victim.
