Dele Momodu Dumps PDP, Joins ADC — Cites Hijack by Anti-Democratic Forces

By Zhunurain Lukman Muritadho

In a significant political move, media mogul and politician Chief Dele Momodu has formally announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a letter dated July 17, 2025, addressed to the Chairman of PDP Ward 4 in Edo State, Momodu expressed disappointment over what he described as the party’s loss to anti-democratic forces.

“My reason is simple and straightforward,” Momodu wrote. “Our party has been unarguably hijacked by antidemocratic forces, from within and outside, in broad daylight.”

The former presidential aspirant stated that it would be “honourable to abandon the carcass of the party to them,” while declaring his alignment with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a party he described as now attracting “the majority of us earnestly.”

Momodu’s resignation marks another high-profile exit from the PDP amidst internal power struggles and realignment ahead of the next electoral cycle. He closed the letter with appreciation for the support he had received during his time with the party.

The political space is expected to feel the ripple effect of this move, as observers await what role Momodu will play in shaping the ADC’s direction moving forward.

Recall that Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential candidate in the 2023 generation election, also recently dumped the party.
