LAAF Partners With ECF to Empower Widows For Christmas
The Life After Abuse Foundation (LAAF), in partnership with Esthers’ Company Fellowship, organized a special Christmas outreach program to support widows.
The outreach featured a variety of initiatives, including the donation of food supplies, free medical checkups, financial assistance, advocacy, and financial empowerment sessions. The event underscored the commitment of both organizations to uplifting vulnerable groups and empowering them to thrive.
A key highlight of the program was a session on financial empowerment led by Olayinka Olonade, the CEO of Penny Lender. The session offered invaluable advice to widows navigating financial struggles, providing tools and strategies to achieve financial stability and independence. Attendees left with practical insights on budgeting, saving, and exploring entrepreneurial opportunities.
Mrs. Tairat Layeni, one of the facilitators of the event and herself a widow, shared her inspiring journey of resilience. She was a full-time housewife before her husband passed, and after his demise, she courageously stepped into the workforce, investing in skill development. Over 12 years, she grew her expertise, eventually launching her own business to support her family. Her story served as a beacon of hope, illustrating the transformative power of determination and self-improvement after loss and grieve.
Halima Layeni, Executive Director of Life After Abuse Foundation, delivered a message of encouragement to the widows, urging them to remain steadfast and hold onto God’s promises. She emphasized the importance of resilience and self-belief, inspiring attendees to rise above their pain and pursue opportunities for growth to support their families.
