LAAF holds men’s mental health workshop at Lagos ministry
On Wednesday, 4th December 2024, Life After Abuse Foundation hosted a highly engaging men’s mental health workshop at the Lagos State Ministry of Establishments and Works. The workshop was designed to promote mental wellness and address the unique challenges faced by men.
The workshop, facilitated by Halima Layeni, aimed to create a safe and supportive environment where men could openly discuss their mental health concerns, free from stigma and societal pressures. The interactive sessions covered topics such as stress management and anxiety reduction, building resilience and coping mechanisms, promoting healthy relationships and communication, and addressing societal expectations and masculinity norms.
The workshop was well-received by participants, who appreciated the opportunity to engage in open and honest discussions about their mental health. The event provided a platform for men to share their experiences, challenges, and successes, and to learn from one another.

At Life After Abuse Foundation, we believe that prioritising men’s mental health is essential for creating a healthier, more supportive community. By promoting mental wellness and encouraging men to speak openly about their emotions and challenges, we can help to break down stigmas and stereotypes that often prevent men from seeking help.
We would like to extend our gratitude to our volunteers, Anjola Osinuga and Akin Dayo, for their support and dedication to this cause. Their contributions were invaluable, and we appreciate their commitment to promoting mental health awareness.
We also appreciate the Lagos State Ministry of Establishments and Works for hosting our workshop and for their ongoing support of our initiatives. We are grateful for their partnership and look forward to continuing our collaboration in the future.
