Kariega kidnapping: Theresa Minnie returns home safely

There is relief and joy in Kariega this week as 73-year-old Theresa Minnie, who was kidnapped outside her Fairbridge Heights home on Monday, has safely returned home.

Minnie, who was taken while on her way to work, is now back with her family, bringing comfort to her loved ones and the wider community.

In a separate incident, a 47-year-old man who was abducted in Neave Township on Wednesday was also released unharmed the following day in Motherwell.

While the exact details of the releases remain unclear, both outcomes have brought hope and gratitude to residents of the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro, who have been deeply concerned about the recent spate of kidnappings.

Local leaders, including the DA’s Eastern Cape Shadow MEC for Safety, Yussuf Cassim, have welcomed the safe returns and are pushing for stronger collaborative measures between law enforcement agencies to ensure community safety going forward.

For now, families are simply thankful to have their loved ones home safe and sound.
