Justice Figareido joins Chippa United – can he save their season?

Justice Figareido unveiled as Chippa United’s new signing
Unveiled on 26 August 2025
The Eastern Cape club officially unveiled Figareido on via their official social channels. His arrival is one of several signings Chippa have completed as they look to arrest a slow start to the season and push for a more secure league position in the coming weeks.
Figareido’s career to date
Figareido featured 22 times for Richards Bay FC across all competitions last season, registering two goals and two assists. Although not an out-and-out goalscorer by numbers, his strengths lie in his movement, direct pace and ability to stretch opposition backlines—traits that make him well suited to playing across the front line.
Before Richards Bay, Figareido’s career included spells with Manzini Sundowns (Eswatini), Maritzburg United, Mbombela United, TS Galaxy and the now-defunct Cape Town All Stars. His breadth of experience across domestic tiers and international exposure with Eswatini adds valuable depth and match awareness to Chippa’s attacking options.
Club reaction and role
In their official announcement, the club said, “Chippa United is pleased to announce the signing of Justice Figareido on a permanent transfer from Richards Bay FC. The pacey forward joins the Chilli Boys ahead of the new season. We look forward to seeing him lead the line and deliver a season full of goals. Welcome to the Eastern Cape, Figo!”
That public show of confidence indicates Chippa sees Figareido as a player who can contribute immediately—either as a starter or through impactful minutes from the bench—helping to improve their attacking threat and link play in transition.
Busy transfer window for the Chilli Boys
Figareido is one of several recruits this window as Chippa attempt to strengthen several areas of the squad. Other confirmed arrivals include:
- Somila Ntsundwana (forward, from Richards Bay FC) — a pacey wide attacker returning to the Eastern Cape;
- Harold Majadibodu (defender) — a versatile defender with experience at Mamelodi Sundowns and University of Pretoria;
- Plus additions such as Sammy Seabi, Goodman Mosele, Abdoulaye S. Mariko, Elson Ayanda Sithole, Thulani Mini, Khaya Mfecane, Thamsanqa Magwaza and Azola Tshobeni.
The mixture of attacking and defensive recruits signals a concerted effort by Chippa’s recruitment team to address inconsistencies from the opening fixtures and increase competition for starting places.
Standings & upcoming fixtures
Chippa United have endured a difficult start to the 2025/26 DStv Premiership season and currently sit 15th with one point from three matches. Their next fixture sees them visit Richards Bay at Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu with kick-off scheduled for 19:30.
