Is Davido Anu’s father? What to know about singer’s paternity saga

Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has responded to viral claims by a young lady, Anu Adeleke, who alleged that he is her biological father and requested a DNA test to confirm her identity.

The controversy began after Anu shared an emotional video on Instagram, stating that she had grown up being told by her mother and grandmother to live responsibly and avoid bad influences.

In the video, she explained that she had been bullied in school since the age of six for claiming that Davido was her father, which she said caused her emotional distress and affected her mental health.

According to her, she decided to speak out as she entered her teenage years, saying she wanted to establish her true identity.

She described how classmates mocked her, doubted her claims, and how she often returned home in tears. She added that she had sought medical and emotional support to cope with the pressure.

“As I grew older i want to establish my identity. I was bullied in school since I was 6 year old and cried home daily. Other students laughed at me when I told them my father was Mr. David Adeleke. I went through a lot of mental anguish and visited a medical professional to protect my mental health. It was a sad challenging time in my life.”

She went further in her post to appealed to Davido to take a DNA test with her, stating that it was the only way for her to confirm who her real father is. She said the request was personal and necessary for her peace of mind.

“However on that note as I transition into a young woman, I am respectfully asking Mr. David Adeleke singer @davido for a DNA test to establish my Identity. This test is between my dad and I. It is something that is right to do. Please sir, consider my request once you read this post.i also sent it to your DM.”

However, Davido strongly denied the claim. Responding to comments on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, the singer said he had never had any relationship with Anu’s mother and had never met the girl except during DNA testing.
“This is the last time I’m speaking on this nonsense,” Davido wrote. “I’ve taken five DNA tests. All came out negative. I am not your father. I have never even met your mother. She is an obsessed fan lying to you.”
He further claimed that both parties selected hospitals for the tests, stating that he chose three hospitals while the other side chose two, and that all five hospitals results confirmed he is not the girl’s biological father. He added that while he does not blame the girl, he believes the situation has been driven by her mother.
The issue sparked widespread debate on social media and began trending on Thursday, January 15, 2026, following the circulation of Anu’s video.
