From street dancer to music sensation

Growing up in the neighborhood of Ebute Metta in Lagos, Patoranking was exposed to the sounds of reggae music at an early age. Influenced by the legendary Bob Marley, his love for the genre grew, and he aspired to create his own unique blend by infusing reggae and dancehall with a distinct Nigerian flavor.

However, life wasn’t easy for Patoranking. Struggling to make ends meet, he resorted to doing various menial jobs, all while keeping his dream of becoming a musician alive.

Patoranking’s journey began as a street dancer, showcasing his skills at street jams and carnivals. His electrifying performances caught the attention of music enthusiasts, and he soon gained a small but dedicated fan base.

Determined to take his career to the next level, Patoranking made a bold decision to relocate to Ghana, where he believed he would have more opportunities to pursue his dreams.

Patoranking’s rise to fame

Patoranking’s breakthrough moment came when he collaborated with the renowned African dancehall artist, Timaya, on the hit single ‘Alubarika.’ The song became an instant hit, propelling Patoranking’s name into the mainstream music scene.

The collaboration opened doors that he never thought possible, paving the way for a string of successful collaborations with artists such as Konga, Slam, Reggie Rockstone, and XProject.

Reflecting on his remarkable journey, Patoranking shared his story in a recent interview, saying, “I had to move from Cape Coast to Accra. I was sleeping on the streets of Osu just to make it. We must make it now… survival at all costs.

The only option I had at that point was making it in life because I just had to change the course of my family, the face of my family, and being the first child put the entire load on me.”

Patoranking’s story is one of resilience and determination. Despite facing numerous obstacles and financial constraints, he never let his circumstances define him. Instead, he used his background as a stepping stone to greatness.

Today, Patoranking is regarded as a legend in his own right, and his music continues to resonate with audiences worldwide.

As Patoranking’s career continues to soar, his legacy serves as an inspiration to aspiring artists and individuals striving to overcome adversity.
