Nkechi Blessing hails Funke Akindele’s heroics.

Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has reaffirmed what many in the Nigerian entertainment industry already believe—Funke Akindele remains one of the most powerful and consistent forces in Nollywood.

In a recent statement, Nkechi hailed the 47-year-old filmmaker and actress not just for her longevity, but for her evolving impact across multiple facets of the industry.

According to Nkechi, Funke Akindele has built a reputation that is both iconic and inspirational. From her early days in the television series I Need to Know to her breakthrough role in Jenifa, Funke has transformed herself into a household name with a wide-reaching influence. Her success has not only come from acting but also from writing, directing, and producing some of Nigeria’s biggest box office hits.

Nkechi noted that Funke’s ability to continually break records sets her apart from her peers. In recent years, the actress-turned-producer has helmed blockbuster films like Omo Ghetto: The Saga, Battle on Buka Street, and A Tribe Called Judah, all of which are among the highest-grossing Nigerian films of all time. Her latest film, Everybody Loves Jenifa, made history by crossing ₦1 billion in box office earnings within just 19 days—a feat no other Nigerian film had achieved at the time.
