Full List: Osihmen, Mahrez lead ‘African Player of the Year’ shortlist… who’ll win it?
The 30-man shortlist nominees for the men’s category for Confideration of African Football Awards 2023 Player of the Year award has been announced by the award organisers. This comes as the Awards Gala, which is set for December 11, 2023, in Marrakech, Morocco, gets closer.
The preliminary list for the various categories was compiled by a panel of African Football Legends, CAF Technical Experts, and a few media representatives from various nations. The consideration for nominees is their performance for both their clubs and countries between November 2022 and September 2023.
The ultimate winner of the award will be decided after votes from a voting panel consisting of CAF Technical Committee, media professionals, Head Coaches and Captains of Member Associations.
Senegal forward Sadio Mane is the current holder of the prestigious CAF African Player of the Year award after being crowned in July 2022 in Rabat, Morocco.
