From street to spotlight: Meet Michael, EventGo2Guys founder who is building a global brand

Michael Oluwafemi Ogunbamowo, Eventgo2Guys founder, shares his vision to build a lasting legacy with CrispNG.

In a world where moments vanish with the scroll of a screen, Michael Oluwafemi Ogunbamowo is building memories that linger—crafted not just with light and sound, but with soul. A master of mood and momentum, he is the fast-rising architect behind some of Nigeria’s most talked-about events, and the visionary founder of Eventgo2guys—a creative powerhouse that is fast becoming synonymous with immersive, purpose-driven celebrations.

Michael’s journey didn’t begin with confetti and cameras. It began behind a sales counter at Swift Networks and in newsroom trenches as a journalist with Black House Media, where he sharpened his flair for storytelling. But it was in the world of experiential design that his genius found its truest canvas. From rising through the ranks at Coker Creative to commanding global attention with standout projects like Nativeland, Gidifest, and SheaOnTheBeach, Michael has proven that designing experiences is both an art and a science—and he’s mastered both.

Backed by a Business Administration degree from the University of Lagos and an MBA from Halic University in Turkey, Michael blends creativity with strategy, storytelling with structure. And through Eventgo2guys, he’s not only shaping unforgettable events for high-net-worth clients and A-list celebrities, but also building a movement—using events as platforms to empower underserved communities and mentor the next generation of experience designers.

For Michael Oluwafemi Ogunbamowo, every event is more than a gathering—it’s a story waiting to be told, a moment waiting to matter.

In this interview with Crisp Nigeria (CRISPNG), he speaks about his growing up, establishment of EventGo2Guys, desire to make impact, and future ambition.

Can you take us back to the beginning—what inspired you to start EventGo2Guys, and how did the journey into event planning unfold?

EventGo2Guys was born from a deep desire to create meaningful experiences and also give back to the community that raised me—Akoka, Shomolu, and Bariga. I was once a young boy in those streets with big dreams but limited opportunities. Thankfully, I received help along the way, and I made a vow to one day become a source of hope and transformation for others like me. Event planning was my entry point—a space where creativity, excellence, and organization meet. What started as helping friends and family organize small events quickly grew into a professional passion. With consistent learning, global exposure (including time at Coker Creative), and an eye for quality, EventGo2Guys evolved into what it is today.

EventGo2Guys has become synonymous with creativity and class in the Lagos event scene. What do you think sets your team apart in such a competitive industry?

Our strength lies in our attention to detail, storytelling, and a deeply rooted passion for people. We don’t just plan events—we design unforgettable experiences. From our high-concept birthday parties to luxurious weddings and corporate celebrations, we bring a tailored approach to each client. Plus, our use of innovation—like exploring 3D event visualization, real-time vendor ETA tracking, and seamless time management—places us ahead of the curve. But most importantly, our heart for community impact and our commitment to excellence set us apart. We don’t only build events—we build lives.

As a young entrepreneur in Nigeria, what were some of the biggest challenges you faced when starting out, and how did you overcome them?

Access to funding, gaining trust from high-end clients, and navigating the informal vendor landscape were major challenges. There were also moments when it felt like passion alone wouldn’t sustain the business. But I overcome these hurdles through strategic partnerships, mentorship, faith, and relentless execution. Working with mentors, taking bold steps to create value, and investing in our brand helped us attract both attention and trust. We also prioritized building a reliable team that could consistently deliver premium results.

With the current high unemployment rate in Nigeria, what advice would you give to young people hoping to chart their own path through entrepreneurship?

Start with what you have and stay consistent. Your gift can make room for you if you treat it like a business. Learn as much as you can, find a niche, and never stop improving. Don’t despise small beginnings—build your credibility through excellence and integrity. Also, find ways to give back. I always tell people: impact is the new currency. When your business solves real problems and empowers others, you’ll find both purpose and profit.

Event planning often requires dealing with high-pressure situations and demanding clients. How do you manage stress and maintain excellence across diverse events—from weddings to luxury experiences?

Preparation is key. We use detailed checklists, time-blocking, and digital tools to stay ahead of every task. I also make it a point to center myself before major events through prayer and reflection. Delegation is also critical—having a competent team means I don’t carry the weight alone. We’ve created a system where everyone knows their role, and we train regularly to ensure quality delivery under pressure. Every challenge is an opportunity to innovate and improve.

Many entrepreneurs struggle with scaling their business. What were some key strategies that helped you grow EventGo2Guys from an idea to a recognized brand?

We built our growth on storytelling, community, and strategy. First, we documented and shared our success stories online to build credibility. Then, we reinvested in team training, vendor development, and tech-driven systems to streamline our operations. We also created consultation structures and templates to offer clients more value. Most importantly, we stayed focused on the big vision: building a billion-dollar event brand while impacting over a million boys from underserved communities in Lagos and planning to expand it globally.

What role do partnerships, collaboration, and a strong team play in the success of your business?

Everything. You can’t build anything great alone. Our partnerships with vendors, designers, and even community leaders help us reach new heights. Collaboration allows us to offer more to clients—faster timelines, better prices, higher creativity. And our team? They’re the backbone. From logistics coordinators to creative leads, every member brings something unique. We invest in them not just as staff but as future leaders. Our internal culture is just as important as the external brand people see.

Looking ahead, what’s your vision for the future of EventGo2Guys, and how do you hope your journey will inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs in Nigeria?

Our vision is global. We want EventGo2Guys to be the go-to platform for everything event-related—not just in Nigeria, but around the world. We’re working on launching Event2GO, an AI-powered planning app, with 3D simulations, vendor tracking, time management features, and more. But beyond tech and events, our greater vision is to empower over 1 million boys in Lagos by helping them escape poverty through business and craft training. I hope my story proves that where you start doesn’t determine how far you can go. If I can do it, so can you.

I hope my journey shows the next generation of entrepreneurs in Nigeria that greatness can rise from humble beginnings. I want young people to see that it’s possible to build something impactful, even without perfect conditions, without fraud, or Blood Money —what matters most is vision, consistency, and the courage to keep going.

If my story can prove anything, it’s that your background doesn’t limit your future. I started EventGo2Guys not just to plan events, but to create platforms of opportunity—for my team, for our community, and for every young boys and girls out there who needs to believe that his dreams are valid.

My goal is to be a living proof that purpose-driven entrepreneurship can change lives. I want to inspire others to build businesses that not only profit but also uplift. If more young Nigerians start thinking this way, we won’t just be changing our lives—we’ll be rewriting the story of this country. Just like Davido says ‘We rise by lifting others’
