Fate of a camel

     Fate of a camel

    By Jessica Otaikhor Osagie

    In a golden body
    On my padded feet
Moving like a boat on the sand
    With grace and poise
    Faithful and selfless
    I stand to carry all
    On the owner’s will
Walking past the vast desert land
    In an hot sanding ground
    Without appreciation
On my heels, race and speed.

    Sometimes lost in thoughts
I got stroke on tense to restore breath
Traveling miles without a single drop
The intense and unfriendly heat to bear
Under a smoking sun, lashes of canes
    I still never falter
Providing him the needed on time
    In this harsh climax
    Only Once was I appreciated
    The journey from the north
An errand it was, some illegal deliveries
    Camouflaged against the thick desert
When legs moves no more for restoration

With the heavy load on my humped back
Animal that you said I am
I quenched your thirst with my motion
Fills your entire body with Glee
Feeding on harsh desert leave for survival
When would you know I have life?
Am i just an animal ? Do nature create us on this?
    Ride on my humped back
    Ships of the desert
    An amazing creature
My fate in my creator oh the Lord’s ship.
