Mayorkun drops his new album.

Nigerian Afropop sensation Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, professionally known as Mayorkun, has made a triumphant return with the release of his highly anticipated third studio album, Still The Mayor. The 12-track project officially dropped in the early hours of Friday, June 14, 2025, across all major streaming platforms, following a brief postponement from its original May 2 release date.

The singer made the announcement on Thursday night via his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, stating, “Still The Mayor arrives at midnight! Big ups to everyone who worked on this project with me. It’s a special one for many reasons.”

The album boasts a star-studded lineup, featuring top artists such as Fireboy DML, Davido, Rotimi, King Promise, Olivetheboy, and Gyakie. Notably, Fireboy DML appears twice on the project, a creative decision that Mayorkun previously described as a significant part of the album’s emotional and sonic depth.

Early fan favourites like Lose Control featuring King Promise, Under The Canopy, and Therapist featuring Fireboy DML are already generating buzz online, with listeners praising Mayorkun’s matured sound and lyrical growth. The project explores a wide spectrum of emotions, from vulnerability and self-reflection to joy and celebration.

Mayorkun’s latest work comes more than three years after his sophomore album, Back In Office, and nearly seven years after his breakout debut, The Mayor of Lagos. Speaking in a recent interview with 3MUSIC TV, he described Still The Mayor as a deeply personal album that reflects his growth and the life experiences that have shaped him since his last release.

“It’s still me, still the Mayor. But this time, I had more to say, more to express. Life’s been happening, and the music reflects that,” he said, hinting at the album’s introspective core.

The new project also marks Mayorkun’s official return to the spotlight after a relatively low-profile 2024, during which he focused on touring and studio sessions. With this album, he reasserts his place among the leading voices in Afrobeats, blending pop, highlife, and urban influences with finesse and intention.

Industry watchers expect Still The Mayor to make a strong impact on digital charts both in Nigeria and across global Afrobeats playlists in the days ahead. Fans have already flooded social media with reactions, hailing the album’s production quality, musical range, and compelling collaborations.

Rising to fame in 2016 under Davido’s DMW label, Mayorkun has carved a niche for himself as a consistent hitmaker and live performer. With Still The Mayor, he signals not just a comeback but a continued evolution in a competitive and fast-moving industry.
