CrispNG’s Anibe Idajili selected for HumAngle Fellowship on reporting conflict and missing persons

Anibe Idajili, a freelance journalist with Crisp Nigeria (CrispNG), has been selected for the HumAngle Fellowship on Reporting Conflict and Missing Persons in Nigeria.

The fellowship, which is in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), aims to deepen journalistic expertise on the nation’s ongoing insurgency and the resulting epidemic of missing persons.

Given the impact of insecurity, primarily driven by militant groups and banditry, the need for specialized conflict reporting cannot be overstated.

Over 3 million Nigerians are internally displaced due to conflict and violence, with thousands unaccounted for. This fellowship provides the specialized training needed to investigate these sensitive cases with depth and accountability.

Commenting on the selection process, Hauwa Shaffii Nuhu, HumAngle’s Managing Editor, stated that over 200 strong applications were received during the two-week application window. She added that the final 10 emerged after a rigorous shortlisting and interviewing process.

Idajili joins a cohort of middle-career and senior journalists from leading media houses, demonstrating the high regard for CrispNG’s commitment to rigorous reporting. Other selected fellows include Patricia Ononye (AIT), Ben Ezeamalu (Reuters), Stephen Kenechi (The Cable), Rahima Dokaji (Daily Trust), Yakubu Mohammed (Premium Times), Olisah Chukwuma (DW), Hauwa Maikeffi (Beyond the Pages), and Abubakar Abdullahi (Freelancer).

This selection brings home CrispNG’s dedication to conflict sensitivity and human-centered journalism. We congratulate Anibe Idajili and anticipate the impactful stories that will emerge from her participation in this fellowship.
