Bayelsa State governor denies Nengi’s pregnancy…here’s what to know about Nengi

Viral news of Big Brother Naija (BBN) reality star pregnancy rumour with Bayelsa State Governor Duoye Diri hit the internet in the wee hours of yesterday.

The viral post stated that Nenegi was pregnant and the pregnancy belonged to the incumbent governor of Bayelsa State.

Recall that Nengi Rebecca Hampson is the Senior Special Assistant(S.S.A) to the governor on Girl Child Development which made the news seem credible as there is an established working relationship.  Such that the news gained traction and raised lots of eyebrows especially as it coincided with the Fifth-anniversary celebration of the administration.

Governor Duoye Diri denied the allegation and tagged it handiwork of his enemies who want to tarnish his image. In a Facebook post made by his Director-General of News Media to the governor, Dr. Samuel Kolawole Oredipe, he stated that the news is a false one alleging that “Political enemies of His Excellency Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State, are at work again. What a wicked set of people spreading falsehood on a day the Prosperity Administration commenced activities marking its 5th anniversary.”

The post further went ahead to clarify that “Nengi Rebecca Hampson has no personal relationship with the governor. ”

Also, Nengi has come out on social media to debunk the lies. Noting that it’s a distraction, and some of us are very justified in the many reasons offered to regulate the use of various social media.

Nengi made her position known in a post on her X formerly Twitter account. She acknowledged that she was pregnant but maintained that the pregnancy had no link with the governor. She said, “As much as I believe social media lies aren’t worth my time, I’ve come to accept that we live in a world where people are quick to spread lies without limits so let me be clear, I’m not pregnant for any Governor.

I’ve chosen to speak coz this isn’t just an attack on me, it involves people I hold in the highest regard, and I won’t allow a beautiful, personal part of my life to be turned into something ugly.

While I continue to mind my own business and enjoy my pregnancy in PEACE, I wish y’all Love and a happy Valentine’s weekend.”
