2025 tax season: SARS to visit Western Cape — check your area, date, time, other details

SARS Mobile Tax Units set for Western Cape in September—bringing tax services to local towns through October 2025
The South African Revenue Service (SARS) will bring essential tax services directly to communities in the Western Cape beginning this September, as part of its Mobile Tax Unit (MTU) rollout for the 2025 tax season.
This initiative ensures that residents across the province—especially those in rural and under-served areas—have easier access to SARS assistance without needing to travel long distances or rely solely on digital platforms.
In September, the MTUs will visit several key towns in Western Cape. Taxpayers will be able to file their returns, update banking and contact information, register for tax, and receive guidance on SARS eFiling or MobiApp—all from convenient local venues such as libraries and community centres.
This outreach is part of SARS’s broader effort to make tax compliance more inclusive, efficient, and accessible across all provinces.

Why This Matters
For millions of South Africans, especially in rural and semi-urban areas, traveling to a SARS branch can be time-consuming, expensive, or even impossible. The Mobile Tax Units reduce these barriers by ensuring that everyone has access to professional support during tax season. It’s not only about filing on time—it’s about empowering citizens to remain compliant, avoid penalties, and understand their rights and responsibilities.
This initiative also speaks to SARS’s broader mission of tax inclusivity, digital innovation, and improving voluntary compliance by “meeting taxpayers where they are.”
