2025 tax season: SARS is coming to Free State and Northern Cape — check your area, date, time, contact details, others

SARS takes tax services on the road with Mobile Units visiting Free State and Northern Cape communities for the 2025 season
As part of efforts to enhance accessibility and taxpayer support during the 2025 tax season, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) has deployed its Mobile Tax Units (MTUs) to communities across the Free State and Northern Cape provinces.
Running from July through November 2025, this initiative is designed to bring essential tax services closer to citizens, especially in remote or underserved areas with limited access to fixed SARS branches.
The MTUs serve as temporary mobile offices where residents can receive assistance with filing income tax returns, submitting supporting documents, resolving compliance issues, updating personal details, and accessing various other tax-related services.
This move forms part of SARS’ broader commitment to improving voluntary compliance by removing logistical barriers and ensuring taxpayers can meet their obligations with ease.
Whether you’re a salaried worker, small business owner, pensioner, or seasonal worker, this initiative is especially beneficial if you’ve struggled to meet deadlines or navigate digital platforms.
SARS is encouraging all eligible taxpayers in these provinces to take advantage of this service when the mobile units visit their local municipalities.
Below are areas to be visited, time, dates, and contact details in Free State and Northern Cape provinces as provided by SARS via its website.

Why This Matters
For millions of South Africans, especially in rural and semi-urban areas, traveling to a SARS branch can be time-consuming, expensive, or even impossible. The Mobile Tax Units reduce these barriers by ensuring that everyone has access to professional support during tax season. It’s not only about filing on time—it’s about empowering citizens to remain compliant, avoid penalties, and understand their rights and responsibilities.
This initiative also speaks to SARS’s broader mission of tax inclusivity, digital innovation, and improving voluntary compliance by “meeting taxpayers where they are.”
